{"id":406,"date":"2008-10-11T19:38:00","date_gmt":"2008-10-12T02:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ayearofsongs.org\/blg\/?p=406"},"modified":"2018-03-26T19:33:00","modified_gmt":"2018-03-27T02:33:00","slug":"on-a-monday-morning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ayearofsongs.org\/blg\/2008\/10\/11\/on-a-monday-morning\/","title":{"rendered":"On a Monday morning&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1oA8ucCxcbs\" width=\"720\" height=\"420\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 90%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1oA8ucCxcbs&amp;fmt=18\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 180%;\">Y<\/span>ou know the old saw about the mechanic driving the smoke-belching, beat up, barely running car&#8230; As a database guy in real life, you&#8217;d think I&#8217;d be more on top of my <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">own <\/span>IT&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>But until recently I&#8217;d been using a highly informal matrix of data queries, guesswork, and eyeballing to figure out which of my ~150 songs was most due for a new, improved version &#8212; or at least a shot at one &#8212; here in AYoS.<\/p>\n<p>But I finally broke down and used some of the handy dandy aggregate query functions that Bill Gates kindly hammered into my local DB manager, Access, and set up a kind of one-stop for quickly spotting songs that had only been done once or twice and\/or which had never had a version score high in my idiosyncratic personal rating system (which is currently hidden from <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">your<\/span> sight, thank you very much).<\/p>\n<div class=\"image\" style=\"border-style: dotted; margin: 20px; width: 240px; float: right; font-size: 12px;\">\n<div style=\"margin: 10px;\">\n<p><b><b><i>Without Warning\u00a0 <\/i><\/b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1oA8ucCxcbs&amp;fmt=18\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-size: 78%;\">more stream &amp; DL options<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Even though this song, &#8220;Without Warning Blues&#8221; goes back at least a few decades, a reasonable performance had so far escaped me.
