Tipping points.<\/p>\n

They’re like subway stations, I guess. If you miss one, it’s gonna be a helluva ride back.<\/p>\n

And sometimes, having missed your stop, you find yourself at a place where it really can be said: You can’t get there from here.<\/span><\/p>\n

That’s what a lot of people have been saying for a long time — but there was no money<\/span> in their message and it was ignored and ignored again — and now we seem poised to find out just how true their jeremiads will prove to be.<\/p>\n

Anyhow, I feel sorry for all the little furry, feathered, and scaled creatures who will be swept along with our sorry furless backsides in the floods to come…<\/p>\n

Somehow, I feel the cockroaches will survive. Like the forces of the Old South taking over the Party of Lincoln little more than a century after its founding, they will probably be the victors over man, mammal, bird, and lizard… but what will be left of the spoils?<\/p>\n\n
